The Life Of Jesus. The Life Of Jesus Christ As Told From
The Life of Jesus The life of Jesus Christ as told from The New Jerusalem Bible is filled with miracles and unexplainable happenings. This paper will be divided into three parts; the first will discuss we will see the various views from John, Mark, Luke and Matthew. Then the nature of the gospel where I will answer questions like were the writers eye witnesses, and how they used these written sources. We will also see what a Q source is, the similarities between Matthew and Luke and how the Old Testament stories were used to interpret Jesus. The second portion of this paper entails Jesusââ¬â¢s birth, the miracles he created and his resurrection. We will learn about the things Jesus did like cures and spirits and see how these wereâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦An example of The Synopticââ¬â¢s similarity comes from the story of Jesusââ¬â¢ birth; ââ¬Å"And when Jesus had been baptized he at once came up from the water and the heavenââ¬â¢s openedâ⬠(NBJ, 1151). Corresp ondingly, the Synopticââ¬â¢s share the notion that Jesus had no preexistence to his life. This idea differs from Johnââ¬â¢s gospel, because he believed that Jesus had a pre-existence as a human being (Trumbach). ââ¬Å"Through him all things came into being, not one thing came into being except through himâ⬠(NBJ, 1243). Another contradicting example can be see when in the synoptic gospels, they believe that Jesus made a single trip from Galilee to Jerusalem, whereas in Johnââ¬â¢s Gospel, it is believed that he had done five. There are more cures in the gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke than those in Johnââ¬â¢s. On the account of similarities between the Gospels of Matthew and Luke we can see how they project the same thoughts but in different ways. Luke states that the Lordââ¬â¢s Prayer was done ââ¬Å"on a level piece of ground where there was a large gathering of his disciplesâ⬠(NJB, 1214). Contractively, in Matthewââ¬â¢s gospel he says Jesus was ââ¬Å"seeing the crowds he went onto the mountain (NJB 1152). This example portrays how Matthew and Mark have similar stories but are slightly altered by the writer. Luke and Matthew both try to prove Jesuââ¬â¢s birth line. Matthew believed that Jesus is a descendent from Abraham; ââ¬Å"Roll of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son ofShow MoreRelatedThe Passion Of The Christ1520 Words à |à 7 PagesAnytime a movie is written and directed about Jesus Christ there is bound to be a high amount of controversy surrounding the correctness within the movie. Homosexual Propagation in Ukraine Free Essays
Evelina Habrel The Exploratory Paper Sanna Karosas ENG 113 Academic Writing 6 March 2013 Homosexual Propagation in Ukraine Ukraine is a post-Soviet country; therefore, many Soviet-style values and beliefs still exist in Ukrainiansââ¬â¢ minds. Ukraine still shows negative about promotion of gays as it was in Soviet Union. In 2012, Ukraine faced the problem of homosexuality propaganda. We will write a custom essay sample on Homosexual Propagation in Ukraine or any similar topic only for you Order Now Because homosexual couples became very visible, the issue of how to relate to homosexuals propagation became urgent in the society. This issue has influenced not only Ukrainian government and population, gays but also European Union. Ukrainian Parliament presented a bill against promotion of homosexual relationships which is supported even by the presidentââ¬â¢s representative. The law bans ââ¬Å"propaganda of homosexuality,â⬠which is defined as a positive attitude to gays in public (The Associated Press, 2012). Some politicians proposed to confirm the anti-gay law 8711 where the Ukrainian government wants to prison people up to five years for any positive public depiction of homosexuality. In addition, this bill would ban such events as gay pride parades or TV dating shows for same-sex couples. An author of the Ukrainian bill, Pavlo Ungurian, stated that the bill would help to protect ââ¬Å"the moral, spiritual, and physical health of the nation,â⬠while Ruslan Kukharchuk, a campaigner for the bill and the leader of the ââ¬Å"Love Against Homosexualityâ⬠group, named a homosexuality ââ¬Å"a disease â⬠¦ a psychological disorder,â⬠and such people should get ââ¬Å"rehabilitation therapyâ⬠(Druker, Boissevain, Caloianu, Persio 2012). Ukrainian political branch is strain because there are many powers that shows negative attitude towards homosexual propagation. This conflict made the Ukrainian population to split into supporters and fighters against gay promotion. Statistics shows that only 3% of Ukrainians have quite positive attitude to sexual minorities, 10% have rather positive, 14. 5% ââ¬â rather negative, and 57. 5% ââ¬â entirely negative (Stern, 2012). In the article ââ¬Å"Tajik Fighting Ends, Ukraine Gets on Anti-Gay Bandwagonâ⬠it is reported that people who participated in a march last May in Kyiv promoted the traditional family and rotested against homosexualsââ¬â¢ rights with a slogan ââ¬Å"Homosexuality ââ¬â No. â⬠People in Ukraine do not want to accept homosexuals in society. As a result, they might do some protests where they express what the feel and think. The way people show their attitude to gays and the words or physical power they use is unethical in some cases. Ther e were situations in Ukraine when homosexuals were beaten by citizens just because they promote nontraditional sexual orientation. For instance, masked assailants kicked and jumped on Svyatoslav Sheremet, the head of Gay Forum of Ukraine. A month later, unknown muggers assaulted Taras Karasiychuk, another of the parade investors, on the street as he was coming home at night (Stern, 2012). These cases show the cruelty of some anti-gay supporters. Ukrainian homosexuals fight for their rights. They ask for help and support for lesbian and gay organizations. Because of the new law, they need a protection because anti-gay movements became very cruel. Homosexuals do not think that propagation of nontraditional orientation can harm Ukrainians population (Danilova, 2012). They ask to provide civil liberties and equity for the sexual minorities. In spring 2012, Ukraine was supposed to have a pride parade, but because of the mass riots against homosexual demonstrations, organizers decided not to conduct it (The Associated Press, 2012). Homosexuals need social comfort because they feel eradication of the prejudiced and stigmatic attitude. Even though they might not promote homosexuality, they still will be treated as those who propagate it. Svyatoslav Sheremet, who leads Ukraineââ¬â¢s Gay Forum, said, ââ¬Å"Eventually, society comes to realize that one can only live peacefully when one is tolerantâ⬠(Danilova, 2012). Homosexuals feel themselves unsafely and prejudiced in Ukraine, and they want people to be kinder to them. The next perspective of this issue belongs to the European Union that shows its disappointment in Ukraine because of the anti-gay law. For Europe people should be treated equally no matter what sexual orientation a person demonstrates. According to Reid-Smithââ¬â¢s article ââ¬Å"Europe May Punish Ukraine for Gay Censorship Law,â⬠European Union may put new visa rules to punish Ukraine if it confirms law plan against homosexual propaganda. Of course, it will be harder for Ukrainians to have an access to Europe. The draft anti-gay law creates hostility between Ukraine and European Union. The United Nations Human Rights Committee insisted that such law could not exist with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights that Ukraine approved (Intergroup on LGBT Rights, 2012). The European Union does not discriminate homosexual propagation, and if Ukraine accepts the law against it, than the results will be noxious for the Ukrainian population. Many homosexuals nowadays feel themselves uncomfortable because they cannot be accepted in the Ukrainian culture. Lots of them feel they are not treated in the same way as heterosexuals are viewed. Many Ukrainians began arguing whether homosexual propagation can exist in Ukraine or not. Lots of people were raised in families where traditional relationships were encouraged, and for them it is very hard to accept gaysââ¬â¢ demonstrations. Based on previous political power in Ukraine, the government does not want to accept homosexual supporters in the country. Moreover, this issue forced the European Union to be involved. Indeed, Ukraine has had strain relationship with Europe, and now it can become worse. European Union wants Ukraine government to be loyal to homosexual propagation. There can be some limits for demonstrations, but it is unethical to prison those who promote them, as a Ukrainian government wants to do. Ukrainian Parliament should think about European Commissionââ¬â¢s reaction. The Parliament should realize all the pros and cons of the 8711 law for the Ukrainian future. References Danilova, M. The Metamorphosis Of Malcolm X Essays - English-language Films
The Metamorphosis Of Malcolm X Malcolm X once wrote, My life has always been one of changes (Haley 404). In his autobiography, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, it is very evident that through his life, he went through a series of drastic changes that went from one extreme to another. He went from being at the bottom of the American white mans society, to become one of the most influential advocates of Black pride (150). Throughout the novel the most evident changes are when Malcolm X moves to Boston, goes to prison, and going on Hajj. After living in Michigan, Malcolm X moves in with his half-sister, Ella, in Boston. Malcolm X described the move as pivotal or profound in its repercussions (38). When he gets to Boston, he sets out to explore the city and to get the feel of Boston (40). When he looks around the area he is living in he finds it full of nothing but Hill Negroes (40). He notices that all these black people are simply breaking their backs trying to imitate white people (40). He immediately rejects their way of thinking and finds himself in the middle of the towns ghetto section (42). Soon through his friendship with Shorty, Malcolm X is exposed to a new kind of living. He spends his first month in Roxbury with his mouth hanging open (48). He saw small black children shooting craps, playing cards, fighting [throwing] around swear words and slang expressions (43). Eventually, all this exposure to black people being their natural selves took a great toll on him (43). After hanging out with Shorty and his friends, inevitably, he took his first reefers, first cigarettes, and the first liquor he drank. He ultimately went from being country to a cool cat. When he was exposed to all these jungle streets, he became a hustler and soon began to live like an animal, living only to survive (163). As he became more involved with these people he lost all sense of values and morals. He eventually became a common street hustler, drug dealer, and burglar until he was finally caught and served seven years in jail. Malcolm Xs experience in jail saved him eventually and molded him into the great leader he is known for today. While in prison the first thing that made a positive impression on his life is a fellow inmate named Bimbi. (153). What impressed him the most about this man was the way he was able to command total respect with his words(154). By trying to pursue a friendship with Bimbi, Malcolm X consequentially seeks an education. Through his readings and new found religion, the Nation of Islam, Malcolm X finds self-pride. He starts to become proud of who he is and where he came from. He realizes that before, all he was trying to do was act like someone he wasnt and all it had gotten him was seven years in prison. The letters he got from Elijah Muhammad and his family encouraged all of this. He strives to admit his guilt, and implore the forgiveness of God (170). He would often be startled to catch [himself] thinking in a remote way of [his] earlier self as another person and marvel at h ow much he had changed (170). All the reading he did awoke some long dormant craving to be mentally alive (179). His trip to prison opened up new doors for him because he gained knowledge that made him rethink his niche in life. After he left jail, Malcolm X believed that the black man was superior to the white man and the white man was simply the devil. He preached this to thousands of black people and converted them to the Nation of Islam through his moving speeches that stunned and captivated them. However, all of his beliefs were totally changed after he took a trip to Mecca and went on Hajj. The first thing that enthralls Malcolm X, is the unity he sees in all the Muslims that are gathered at the airport. Everyone, from a king to a peasant, is dressed in the same clothes. There is none superior to the other because in the eyes of Allah

The Edutained American essays
The Edutained American essays You may try to deny it; many of us do. We are our own people, with our own thoughts, feelings, and opinions. We are individuals, and nothing influences us without our knowledge and permission. Certainly not the media; we create the media, after all, and direct it with our own tastes and preferences. It is merely a part of our lives, a not-too pervasive part. We say this with absolute certainty and still know that we lie. For the media is not a part of our lives, it is our lives. It directs us, moves us towards what its creators, directors and sponsors want us to see. Everything we do is not media influenced, it is media-dictated. In some ways, our modern information systems are helpful. They are, after all, informative. From these systems we learn, we process the information they bring on current events, popular culture, and every other subject known to man. But the information is tainted. It is filtered through the corporate sponsors and the agendas of those who bring it to us. Therefore we bow to the opinions of those who give us our knowledge on every subject they expose us to, from the clothes we buy, to the music we listen to, the films we see, books we read, politicians we vote for, religions we believe in. Our thoughts are not our own. What does this mean to the world in which we live? How does this effect our leaders, our schools and our families? And in a society so permeated with For many of us who attend college now, the media has been around us since birth. The television was a effective babysitter, and we grew up accustomed to the quick, joke-a-minute style of cartoons and situation comedies. With the advent of MTV in 1981, we learned to absorb information through the two and three minute stories offered on that channel, as well as VH1 and BET. These channels opened to us a world that most of our parents simply didnt see as children. One hour of MTV&apo...

A Few Rounds About Bullet Lists
A Few Rounds About Bullet Lists A Few Rounds About Bullet Lists A Few Rounds About Bullet Lists By Mark Nichol Before reading this post you might wanna check one we published a while ago titled 7 Rules For Formatting Lists. Heres a quotation from it: The items in unnumbered lists are often preceded by dots or other symbols known collectively as bullets, though such markers are technically not necessary, especially in a recipe or a materials list. (In those cases, itââ¬â¢s implicit that the ingredients or components are added or constructed in the order listed - itââ¬â¢s actually a numbered list that needs no numbers.) A bullet list lets you display a set of terms, phrases, or statements clearly. prevent reader fatigue or confusion in the form of a long run-in list in a sentence. avoid repetition by following an introductory phrase with ââ¬Å"fill-in-the-blankâ⬠list items. Keep these guidelines for constructing bullet lists in mind: If each of the items in a bullet list completes a sentence begun with an introductory phrase, the first letter of the first word of each item should be lowercase, and the last word should be followed by terminal punctuation (a period, question mark, or exclamation point), as in the preceding bullet list. The format in the previous list, however, is not recommended for items consisting of less than a few words, unless listing multiple items as a run-in list in a sentence would produce a ponderously long sentence. If all list items are complete sentences, they should follow an introductory statement ending with a colon, as in this bullet list. If all list items are incomplete sentences, they can follow an open introductory phrase or one ending with a colon; in the latter case, the first letter of the first word in each item should be uppercase. The first letter of the first word of each complete sentence should be uppercase, and complete sentences should include terminal punctuation. All items in a list should have the same format a word a phrase, or a complete sentence and should follow the same grammatical structure. If every item in a list begins with the same word or phrase, try to incorporate the word or phrase into the introductory phrase or statement, then delete it from the list items. Avoid creating a bullet list in which one or more items consist of very long sentence or more than one sentence; if this is the case, itââ¬â¢s better to use traditional sentence form. A bullet list with a closed introductory phrase and whose items are single words should be formatted as follows: apples bananas cherries Likewise, a bullet list with a closed introductory phrase and whose items are short phrases should be formatted as follows: personal identification number automated teller machine liquid-crystal display The following elements are superfluous in a bullet list with an introductory phrase ending in a colon: A comma after each item A semicolon after each item The word and or or following a comma or semicolon in the penultimate item A period following the last item A bullet list preceded by an open-ended introductory phrase may but need not include a semicolon (not a comma) after each item; the word and or or following the semicolon in the penultimate item (optional); and a period following the last item. Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words - 6
Case Study Example elementary school, I have analyzed that it is essential to develop innovative facilities for the students to enhance the portfolio and demand in the market among others. Along with this, it might be also worth trying to introduce varied types of extra-curricular activities such as lab and library facilities, an Accelerated Reader Program to develop the joy of reading among students and character education classroom programs to enhance the inner skills and talents of the students. Only then, the dominance of the school may be maintained in such a competitive market scenario as compared to others. Along with this, the profit margin and sales might be enhanced resulting in amplification of the brand equity in the market. Side by side, the market value and reputation of the organization might also be enhanced among other rivals in the market (Sadler, 2003). Only then the mission statement of the Maryland elementary school of becoming the top player in this sector might get fulfilled as compared to others in the market. Side by side, its range of students might also get enhanced day by day very rapidly. Trait theory: It is an approach describing the personalities of human beings. It is essential, because on the basis of his or her personality traits, I might approach the person for further discussion regarding the prospects of the goals in this competitive scenario. For example, this theory might also prove effective in understanding the personality traits of the senior managers and the administrators enrolled below me for the fulfillment of this task. Thus, it may be stated that trait theory of leadership is extremely essential for any leader or members of any organization or group. So, it is extremely essential for the leaders to attain a definite type of skills and traits to accomplish the objectives or goals (Sadler, 2003).
